Our Adoption Story

How Greenberg and Greenberg was Founded

Greenberg & Greenberg is a family law firm that has been united by adoption. As partners of the firm, J. Michael Greenberg and Barbara Greenberg have personally experienced the joy and blessing of adoption by adopting their own son James and, years later, the happiness brought by the adoption of their grandson Jonathan. James was adopted at two weeks old in 1973 from Bogotá, Colombia, and is now a partner in our firm.

Nearly 40 years after our very own adoption, our firm has proudly represented and guided more than 6,000 families through the complexities of the adoption process. Our firm is licensed in the states of New York and New Jersey. For 39 years, we have represented adoptive parents and birth parents in both domestic and inter-country adoptions. Perhaps our firm's most distinguishing attribute, in addition to being highly knowledgeable in the field of adoption, is the fact that we all have direct and personal connections to adoption as adoptive parents, grandparents, and an adult adoptee.
